Let there be.....................Film?

Given the extent of the travels and the countless memories to be encountered, we figured, its best to get a video camera to capture the many moments of mayhem that will entail this trip. That way, when we are old and geriatric, we can remember the great time we all had. Now i know most of you will be saying, "what, you didn't have a video camera all this time", for me, the answer is simple, I'm not the kind of japanese tourist guy, i tend to enjoy the view and take lots of photos, rather then contentiously look through the view finder, it's just not me.

So after countless research (read, looking through swags of sale catalogs), we settled on a Samsung Q10 HD video camera.

This is a great bit of kit for not much dosh, supper easy to operate, even Kristian could turn it on an use it with no instructions, takes excellent pictures and videos and best of all, even the cack-handed can use it.

So onwards and upwards as they say, 20 days of work left, not that I'm counting, and we will be departing this island of ours to see what the foreigners are up to.

Never enough room....

Trail packing of the Paj and there can be only one glaringly obvious conclusion......

"You always have twice as much stuff as the room to fit it in"

I am almost 100% sure that I wont need all this stuff, oils, CRC, spare parts, BUT seeing as the nearest repair shop is some 3000Km away from the top, best not to chance it.

On a plus note, I have found that the rear door hatch, normally occupied by a warning triangle and stuff, fits two of shock absorbers perfectly, problem solved.

On the minus side, still need MORE ROOM, or less stuff.......

Four weeks till departure day - Final Preparation

Over the past two months, we have packed up and traveled around our home state Tasmania trying out and jigging all of the new gadgets for our camper. We endeavor to make our big trip as smooth as possible when we do finally launch the big holiday on April 9th.  But of course every time we venture out just for the short weekend between working weeks SOMETHING breaks! LOL Over the past two camping trips our fancy camping shower has never provided the much wanted warm hot shower that it has always promised. Disappointed, last time we showered in cold water out of pure desperation. On a good note, Maciek has mastered all there is to know about the fancy shower from America and it will now never fail us.
So we think, after this weekend that we are sorted for all the big things, and everything awaits us, eagerly sitting in the rumpus room of our house ready to be packed in to the car/trailer, ready for the big journey.
The planned journey, will see us traveling up through the high country of Victoria, and from Wodonga Albury we will head towards Canberra to introduce our children to the Government Capital of Australia and spend some fun time at Science works. From Canberra will make our way up the East Coast of Australia to its most northern tip Cape York! This is our proposed plan anyway. We are, together, stressing about all of the rain and flooding that has just greeted much of Victoria and New South Wales and live in hope that the waters will receed in time for our anticipated journey.
The kids are super super excited about their impending holiday; and remain twice as excited about the stop in Coffs Harbour to spend their birthdays at Pet Porpoise World; venturing on to the Gold Coast to spend days at the famous Sea World, Movie World and Dreamworld.
For now, we continue to be excited but stressed (well maciek and I anyway) about all of the things left to complete prior to our departure during the first week of April.
