Day 10 - Tamworth

Ten days out and we are finally able to start enjoying some sunshine and warmth; sitting by the pool side and swimming with the kids.......all be it in a pool that must be about minus 10 degrees LOL! I'm not sure that i've ever been in a pool SOOOOO cold!! Most places visited to date have had swimming pools that have been heated, but not Tamworth! Regardless of the temperature the kids have had a blast in the water swimming every day.

Other than spending time in the pool with the kids, and yes i did also get in and freeze my ass off; we went out on our hunt for another "Big thing" and headed for the Big Golden Guitar. Whilst none of us are Country music fans, we ventured around the wax museum of Country and Western singers Hall of fame. The wax figurines were pretty awsome but truthfully, we had no idea who 98% of the people were LOL. A good experience none the less.

My country boy!

Today was magnificent in Tamworth. The town itself is pretty and hilly. The main drag in the CBD is a beautiful palm lined street with trees lined all the way through the middle of the street. We went for a look from the towns looked out called Oxley lookout. This lookout gives you a clear view over Tamworth. We followed the on duty fireys up to the lookout (with their fire truck) as they too were admiring the view from up above. They were a very friendly bunch and very happily and kindly offered for the kids to climb up into the truck and gave them a tour of all of their equipment for jaws of life and fire fighting. The kids thought it was great! The view was spectacular!

Completing our day out, we headed for a wildlife park, here in Tamworth that is free entry and run by a volunteer group. It had many birds and duck, one in particular "Willie" who was very friendly and would let you touch and pat them. The wild life park was set in the natural setting just with boundaries, and allowed people to admire the animals in their natural environment. Along with "willie" the duck was "Larry" the Cockatoo. He was talking to us and asking Maciek for "Scratch scratch" whilst pushing his head and neck right through the fence for a head scratch. He was very cute! but very noisy!! The kids were able to see their first, largish Kangaroo and even saw  one with a gorgeous joey hanging out of her pouch.

Willie the friendly duck.

A Chinese Pheasant.

Larry the Cockatoo.

tomorrow sees us packing up again and finally we are heading for the East Coast of Australia. Coffs Harbour is our next port of call for three days. Planning to do special things in Coffs for the Kids for their birthdays. Tomorrow being Krystian's 7th birthday. Happy Birthday baby!!
Catch up with you all of the sunny Coffs Coast!!
