Day 4 Friday 13th April Wodonga - Canberra

Today saw us on our way from Wodonga to Canberra via Gundagi along the Hume Highway. The mainlander's certainly have their roads sorted out. Dual lane freeway the whole way to just out side Canberra..... is fabulous! and the truck stops are awesome with toilets and showers (just to add that in). Our moods are all holding up as we have been in each others company continuously for five days now.
Along the way we were able to see the Ettamogah Pub , sadly which has been closed due to receivership issues. Still looks awesome, even though  we had to admire through a wire fence.

Another hour or so down the freeway we were able to stop in at Hollbrook for a pit stop and to admire the HMAS Ottoway submarine which has found its way into a lovely park just off the main road. The kids were eager to get out of the car and stretch their legs a little.

After driving a couple of hours more we arrived in Gundagai, stopping here to have a rest and picnic lunch in the park. What a true Aussie country town. Small and not much there really. but, we really stopped in here to see the dog and the tucker box (not realising that it was actually situated 10kms from Gundagai itself). Anyway, we got there in the end and were totally bummed because we didn't realise it was anything more than the statue. It was this wonderful little resting area for people with cafes and a beautiful tree lined grass area for picnics.  Anyway, we stopped to get a couple of pictures and continued on our way to Canberra.

Arriving into Canberra around 4pm and settled ourselves into the camp site for our following couple of days doing all the touristy stuff people do when they are in Canberra.
