Day 65 - Port Augusta

Well this post would have been posted a long time ago if Maciek had taken some of his own advice. Hehe!!
Today, our last day in Port Augusta was windy, cold and very overcast. Despite the weather, we decided to head to the Arid Botanical Gardens. For a desert, the botanical gardens were lovely. Whilst not the type of garden we are use to it was amazing to see all of the plants that do tolerate minimal water, heat and cold all at the same time. There are many! Here you could walk for 30minutes or 2 hours and visit all of the mini courtyard type gardens that had been put together to incorporating all of the different types o desert friendly plants, each garden utilising plants that require similar amounts of water. Each garden comprised a table indicating required amount of water compared with the general house garden. Very interesting. Due to the horrible weather and freezing winds we walked around for around 45 minutes before retiring back to the warmth of the car.

The kids have been so well behaved we headed for a treat for them to McDonalds, whilst Maciek and I enjoyed a quiet coffee while the kids played in the sheltered playground.
After some rest and lunch, Maciek and Krystian played some "backyard cricket" and Bella played for hours upon end at the caravan park playground with two little girls she had met the day previous.
Tomorrow we say bye bye to Port Augusta and head back to the big smoke of the city, Adelaide.
