Day 30 - Whitsundays

Today the weather provided us with beautiful sunshine for our last day in Airlie Beach. Again today, we had nothing planned but to relax and enjoy the pools and sunshine. The morning saw us driving out to Hideaway Bay and Dingo Beach. What a beautiful beach to stroll along. We all enjoyed wandering along the beach admiring and collecting shells and washed up coral. Krystian and Maciek paddled their feet in the water. The water temperature up here is between 24 and 28 degrees C, so nice and warm. Dingo beach is an excellent place to go swimming, especially with children. There is a stinger net set in a moderate sized area, and the beach has many posts with first aid vinegar for any stings people may get. I think we are ok now for the winter months.

From Dingo Beach we headed down to the one pier that you can fish off for the boys to throw their line in and try their luck. The wind was blowing a gale on the pier. Two hours and multiple fish later (too small to keep any, we got GT, yellow tail kingfish and any more ) we decided to head back home...to the swimming pool. The kids have been fabulous today. Swimming was our treat (just because we know how much they love it). Before we knew it it was dinner time. Out for dinner to the local bistro called "Banjo's". Maciek ate the best ribs he has had since leaving Tassie and i had a pretty delicious steak (and two cocktails YUMMM!!!!).

We have enjoyed our time in the Whitsundays. Tomorrow sees us hittin' the road again; but just for a short trip to Townsville (maybe 3 hours away).
